“Could have been better. So the panels on the East facing side of the roof could have been installed better. We have neighbors and their house is as tall as ours. The “design” team had the panels installed in a 10 panel block (3×3 plus one more on the bottom) on the Northern most edge of the roof. Thus when the sun rises it takes a while longer to reach the full array on that side. It would have been much better if they would have ran a line of them along the top of the roof edge so they all would get first sun. Near as I can figure though is that over the past year I’ve “lost” over 100 kWh from that setup vs if the 10 panel block was all near the ridge. Even if it wasn’t, it would make more sense to have it installed nearest the South so sun would hit it faster still in the winter months.

Now if I had a large enough roof on the South side then I’d be even better with the 16 panels total we have. So if everything fit on the South vs 6 South and 10 East we’d have produced around 663 more kWh for the year.

Our install went fairly decent except the electrician installed a meter panel on the side of the garage when it wasn’t needed so the system sat for a few days waiting for nobody to install said meter. Once that was figured out, he came back out and removed it and covered the holes with that gray putty junk and rewired the electric. I ended up using some jbweld for wood and actually filled in the holes and then painted it tan as the 1″ dia gray putty stood out. Critter guard, 16 300 watt panels and electric ran inside the house roof came to $18k even. I think it took around 2 months for everything but once they started on the panels it took maybe a few days for it to get wired and installed then the delay with the meter and then finally making power.”
