What is the Meaning of Life

What is the meaning of life is one of the frequently asked questions on the web. In life, you will never know it’s meaning unless you have a great purpose why you’re existing. Have some time to think what is your purpose in your life today. That purpose can be your guiding philosophy while you are still alive.

While I am writing this post, I am thinking “who am I” now, what are my achievements, am I happy in my life? This post is very interesting, isn’t it? After I shared to you what is the meaning of life, let me hear your thoughts in the comment box below!

When I search the meaning of life in dictionary, this is what I found. “Life (plural: lives), the state of organism characterized by certain processes or abilities that include metabolism, growth, reproduction and response.” ⁽¹⁾

I am still young, my life when I was at 18 is different today and the day when I hit the age 42. Many people believes that life only start at 42, I don’t agree with that. Life starts when your mind was being developed and start making your own decisions.

To make things clear, WikiPedia defined the meaning of life, it said,

The meaning of life, or the answer to the question “What is the meaning of life?“, is a philosophical and spiritual conception of the significance of living or existence in general. ⁽²⁾

While on the other hand, when I search the meaning in Yahoo answers, the answers are came from the categories under “philosophy”, “religion and spirituality” and “alternative medicine”.

According to Dink,

I don’t think there is an exact true meaning to life and it’s something very difficult to define. I do believe, however, that everyone does serve a purpose in life, and perhaps if you search deep enough you will find the true meaning. We are all sent here to learn lessons and grow as people. I think it’s something you would have to figure out on your own, so good luck with that. ⁽³⁾

The author has differentiate the meaning of dreams and life. Your life will have no directions if you have no goals, no philosophy or guiding principles.

Deep Understanding About the Meaning of Life

The antonyms of the word life is abstract, dullness, apathy, inactivity, indifference, laziness, lethargy, death and inanimacy. Some synonyms I found useful to easily understand the meaning of life is the word activity, growth, heart, soul, enthusiasm, get-up-and-go, sparkle, liveliness, high spirits and life blood.

If I will say, life is nothing without enthusiasm, can you interpret it? If I say, you have no high spirit, I think you’re dead, what would you think? The usefulness of life in this world is to give value for every living creatures. In a sense that we should become considerate and careful to use other people’s lives, or other living creatures.

Example, assuming you achieve something great. Would it be okay to you if you celebrate alone? Or, life will be have more sense if you share your success to others. I think I would choose to share my success to every one rather than enjoying my success alone.

What is the Meaning of Life to You?
