How to Improve My English Grammar When Writing Articles?

I asked myself as a blogger, how to improve my English grammar when writing articles? For me English is quiet difficult. I am trying to find a solution on how to make my writing skills in English become great. I don’t want to feel sorry for myself. Since English is not my native language, I think it is natural to make a common mistakes when writing articles in English.

This blog is getting bigger. It receives visitors from North America (USA and Canada), these countries are using English as their primary language. Of course Canadian may use French. Few years ago, some people from not English speaking countries visited this blog, commented something ironic. They say “my English grammar was bad”. I just replied them “where are you from?”. They replied from Japan, other from Singapore and other readers are from Saudi Arabia and Middle East.

I mean ironic because they commented using English but their grammar is also not good enough. But I understand them since they are just “critic” not a learner. What I learned from these readers are as follows;

  • It is better to write what you know than write something that you don’t know.
  • Don’t be sound as if you are smart but the real fact is you are not.
  • The important in writing is the “message”. Especially in my blogging style, as long as my point of views are straight, as long as my grammars are easy to understand, then, I will keep on writing articles.

Though I am not good in English grammar, I don’t want to make excuses on not to learn it. For me, English grammar is imperative since it is always a part of my blogging career. For me, I can improve my English grammar through these following ways;

How to Improve My English Grammar When Writing Articles?

1. Read More English Novels

For me novels are great tools to improve my English grammar. But sometimes, reading novel is boring. I just keep on reading novel just to increase my ability to comprehend English sentences. Few years ago, I read the book entitled “New Moon”. I also read some books of William Shakespeare sometimes.

2. Watch US News Network

Oh, my favorite fast time. When I watched CNN, I realized my English grammar is improving because what I heard from the news, I say it to my colleagues and co-workers using English language. Aside from watching news, watching NBA and UFC can help me understand English. My favorite moment is that when the announcer talks something cool and uses different American expressions like “that’s ridiculous”, “an eye for an eye”, “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” and many more.

3. Newspaper and Magazines

I should have say Forbes and Entrepreneurs are my favorite magazines ever. They teach me how to invest my money . These magazines are also good when I want to expand my vocabulary in financial terminologies like , inflation, stock split, ROI, yield, assets, etc.

4. Read Interesting Books

My favorite book is the Secrets of the Millionaire Mind excellently written by T. Harv Eker. He uses simple English grammar. What I like to this book is that it was written as if the author talk to me personally.

5. Read English Dictionary

Every week I expand my vocabulary on English words. I read dictionary. I will find a unique word and find the meaning using dictionary. I used to read Encyclopedia.

6. Write, Write and Keep on Writing Using English Grammar

I keep on writing for my blogging career. I love InvestmentTotal.com. I spend two hours a day with this blog. When I write articles, I make sure the article is easy to understand. I keep on writing using short sentences. In my own opinion, you can write whatever you want using English language as long as you understand the meaning of each word you used.

You too can also improve your English grammar just keep on doing the ideas mentioned above. You can play online games or read online dictionary like Wikipedia that can teach you English. For me, the most effective ways on how to improve English grammar is to always use English. Speak, listen, write and read English sentences everyday.
