Ask the Reader: Perfect Time to Retire in the Year (Specific Month)

A reader of Retirement Planning IQ asked, when is the best time to retire in the year? If I retire this year, at what month and day? I am so excited. I am 64 turning 65 but I also plan to work for some years but my company just want me to retire.

Question by Angela, Q. from Texas, United States.

Well, congratulations. If you were Angela what would you do? How can you say to your boss that you want to stay working for the company for few years?

I am so sure there is some laws and regulations that when an individual turned into 60 or 65, he will retire at work. I am not familiar with the laws, but it’s obvious.

Angela have no other choice that to retire at 65. But, in other countries as long as you are productive and want to stay working, it’s fine.

When is the Best Time to Retire in the Year?

For me the best time to retire in the year is during his or her birthday. Example, if your birthday is August 5, then you should retire in August five in any year you prefer or at any age you desire.

I just hear to other people that retiring at their birthday is really exciting. Don’t get excited. You need to pass a retirement letter and plan your retirement party. Who knows, your co-workers, loved ones, friends or students if you are a teacher will give you the best retirement gifts you couldn’t imagine.
